# Adult Hot Chocolate

I wouldn’t say I’ve perfected this recipe, but I’m pretty happy with it. It beats hot chocolate mixes on nutrition. I think it wins on taste as well!

# Ingredients

* 2 cups whole milk

* 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional for thicker chocolate, soak overnight in the milk if possible)

* ½ cup [cocoa nibs](https://amzn.to/3D38cf9)

* ¼ cup [brown sugar](https://amzn.to/4iloShV) (or ¼ cup jaggery, 4 dates, 3 tablespoons maple syrup)

* 1 teaspoon [vanilla extract](https://amzn.to/3BhppRy)

* ¼ teaspoon [cardamom powder](https://amzn.to/3OCbV5Y)

* ¼ teaspoon [Ceylon cinnamon powder](https://amzn.to/49lopZ0)

* 1/8 teaspoon [salt](https://amzn.to/3Bn5OPP)

## Equipment

* [Measuring cups & spoons](https://amzn.to/3ZdO3dK)

* A high-power blender with a soup setting, like this [Blendtec](https://amzn.to/3Vklt9y) or [Vitamix](https://amzn.to/3B3nRdV)

* [Mugs](https://amzn.to/3VqGLSN)

## Directions

1. Pour milk to the 2 cup line.

2. Add remaining ingredients.

3. Blend until smooth and hot. On my Blendtec, I run the soup setting twice.

Serves 2.
